With the success of KYS 2015 it was decided that KYS will organised every year by the Social Empowerment Society Gorakhpur. In 2016, it was decided to organize the event together with some conscious youth of the region. The program was named ‘Kalam Youth Summit’ and its theme was ‘An Initiative for Women and Youth Empowerment’. The objectives of the program were to explain the application of general science to the students. The program was organized on 15 October 2016 in collaboration with the Child Line Gorakhpur, Natural Social Education Welfare Foundation, Lab Academia, Purvanchal Gramin Seva Samiti.
The Media Partner of the seminar was Amar Ujala, in the campus of St. Joseph’s College of Women, Civil Lines in Gorakhpur. An examination was conducted among 10,000 students for selecting delegates from all the reputed schools, colleges, universities of Gorakhpur district, out of which 300 creative and talented students were selected. Kalam Achievers Award was given away to the people who are striving for positive changes in different aspects of social life. Best four students/delegates were awarded with Kalam Youth Ratna Award. In the beginning of the program, Ambar Bandopadhyay, the Vice-Chancellor of the Social Empowerment Society presented an introductory report of the program. Dr. Pran urged the youth to become a conscious citizen to serve the country. Dr. Arif Khan shared the experience of doing his work with Dr. Kalam. Prof. Vinod Solanki kept her thoughts on the subject. Ramadhiraj Bhai discussed the importance of youth participation in process of sustainable development. The program was conducted by Akhilesh Singh Rathore, member of the organizing committee and an engineer by profession from Ahmedabad. Former Vice Chancellor Prof. Ramji Singh, Vice Chancellor of Madan Mohan Malviya Technology University, Gorakhpur Prof. Omkar Singh, Dr. Sandeep Pandey, Magsaysay awardee and visiting professor of IIT Gaudinagar, IG of Gorakhpur Zone Shri Mohit Agarwal, etc. also emphasized on the importance of systematic intervention of the youth for a developed India.
