On the occasion of Birthday of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on October 15, 2018, Kalam Foundation organized a Birthday Celebration and Youth Leadership Development Program, is also part of Kalam Youth Summit 2018, in the campus of Maa Chandrika Devi Women’s College in Mahoba, Bundelkhand in associaytion with Social Empowerment Society. Approx 250 participants attended the program from Mahoba and surrounding districts. The chief guest of the program was former Additional Director of DRDO Dr. Arif Khan.
The program started with lamp lighting and Maa Saraswati song. During this time, a film based on Dr. Kalam’s life was also shown. Satya Prakash from Kalam Foundation welcome all the guests, key notes of the program and paid tribute to the two minutes of silence in memory of Dr. GD Agarwal urf Swami Sanand, who gave his life on the issue of Ganga. After this, the speakers share their views on various aspects of Dr. Kalam’s life.
In the next phase of the program all participants were divided in 10 separate groups, each group was given a topic. The subject was in such a way that water and sanitation, education and employment, transport and connectivity, self government, local art and culture, agriculture and food processing, child rights, domestic violence and IT and digital technology. All the groups were named like Agni, Earth, Arihant, Akash etc. All the groups discus local problems and tried to tell their local solutions too. After discussions of the groups, they chose their group leaders who presented them on behalf of the group.
After the presentation of all the groups, four best teams were selected by Judges, who were awarded with certificate. All the groups expressed their desire to implement this action plan locally. After this, the participants presented local folk dance Garba’. At the end of the program, Dr. Md. Arif Khan gave tips to all the participants to succeed in life and share his experience during his DRDO career. The program concludes with the vote of thank and the Nation song “Jan Gan Man”. The program was conducted jointly by Gorakhpur University master of science student Aakriti Vigya Arpan and by engineer and poet Abhishek Pandey urf Lalla Gorakhpuri. All the participants were also given the certificate from Kalam Foundation.
Active support and coordination given by Mr. Amber Bandopadhyay the Vice- President of the Social Empowerment Society and the City coordinator of Childline Gorakhpur Vishnu Dutt Pandey and Juhi Pathak during group discussion and other activities. Mr. Abhay Veer Singh director of host collage given his guidance and support from time to time in the program. On behalf of the college family, there was the presence and support of all the teachers an other staff along with Principal.
